Architectural Design

The Creative Foundation is a charitable organisation based in Folkestone Kent. It’s remit is to establish a thriving economic and social environment by encouraging creative people to live and work in the run down harbour area. Foster Gearing has been heavily involved in the refurbishment and rebuilding of the many dilapidated properties. Our buildings are shown in orange above. These projects form the majority of our work at the moment. One building can contain a retail space, living accommodation and studios for creative businesses and individuals. So we work closely with the foundations clients and potential tenants in defining the space for their specific needs, especially retail design.

63 THE OLD HIGH STREET

FOLKESTONE.

Above is 56-58 The Old Hg Street post refurbishment. The ground floor is now the Creative Quarter visitors centre. The upper floors contain seven studios, communal kitchen and a one bed apartment. The movie site has a film about the building and surrounding area. You can see a film about this building and the surrounding area on the movie site. Below is a picture of the building before construction began.

This is No. 63 The Old High Street in Folkestone during the construction phase although at the moment its more a case of deconstruction. We’ll keep you posted over the coming months.
