shake-shed-serveryIts been a busy summer for us with some new buildings, films and interior projects. The photos above and below show the servery and exterior of Shake Shed, at 17 Old Hg Street Folkestone. This is the second outlet in a chain of stores planned throughout the South East. The first store is in Canterbury and we are working on the next one in St. Albans. See the retail design page for more pics and info.

Interior design walk-through

June 26th, 2009 Posted 3:17 pm

Now live on the movie site is our animated walk-through of 56-58 The Old High Street. It was created entirely in Cinema 4D and sketch up with a soundtrack created in garageband and then lovingly hand stitched together in final cut. The building is now finished and houses the Creative Quarter visitors centre. The upper floors contain 7 studios and a studio apartment. As well as designing the exterior we created the interior layout and specified all the finishes. Hope you like it.

Cinema site now live

Our cinema site is now live, click on the link above under our logo to take a look at our first half dozen movies.

The movies on this part of our website showcase our work in the fields of architectural design and advertising. By combining the latest technology with highly skilled creative individuals we aim to produce work that is rich and stimulating in appearance and content.

The movies combine digital video and computer generated imagery (CGI) and can be formatted to several output options, web streaming, high definition TV and mobile phone for example. On screen text and spoken word soundtracks can be produced in any language and the whole process is conducted in close co-ordination with the client.

The walkthroughs are very successful in allowing interested parties such as developers, the local community, planning authorities and prospective tenants to view plans in a realistic and interactive way.

We are also interested in producing exciting and innovative websites and we feel that when combined with the power of CGI results can be obtained that truly enhance the image of the client.

CGI images

May 6th, 2009 Posted 3:51 pm

We work with the latest and most sophisticated software to create ultra realistic computer generated images and movies. Whole buildings can be built on computer and a tour taken of all aspects of the interior and exterior features without a brick being laid. Here are a few examples of images of what we can do.

Ubuntu Netbooks Movie

March 18th, 2009 Posted 9:19 am

Ubuntu is a global free computer operating system based on the Linux Kernal. Its name comes from the Zulu word, loosely translated as “humanity”. Ubuntu is the first version of the Linux operating system to compete seriously with Windows. Available as an option with new Dell PCs and laptops Ubuntu is rapidly gaining market share as a brilliant and free alternative to the operating system made famous by Microsoft.
The estimated traffic during Ubuntu releases (every six months) is 10,000+ hits per day.
In 2008, Foster Gearing worked alongside Sem Solutions, providing complete design and photography direction for the US Ubuntu Shop website, for clothing, merchandise, software and support. The UK shop is expected to follow. In late 2008 Foster Gearing began work on a promotional film for Ubuntu for Netbooks; a 90 second CGI animation which aims to demonstrate the ease of Ubuntu as a default operating system on Netbooks. The film is intended for Netbook demonstration and advertising in UK stores, but will most likely not be exclusive to retail and has the potential to be developed in several languages. We hope to work with Ubuntu on similar promotional films and material.

The Christopher Winter Project

March 17th, 2009 Posted 4:13 pm

CWP Leaflet Landscape1

The Christopher Winter Project is a government approved scheme which aims to aid teachers in primary and secondary schools in the Teaching of Sexual Relationships and Education. In 2008 Foster Gearing provided the design for the complete Primary pack which could be purchased by schools, including a CDRom, inserts and packaging, as well as the styling of the Lesson Plans, Schemes of Work and Resources/Worksheets on the CD itself. Following the huge success of the Primary pack, we were approached for the design of the complete Secondary pack in 2009 and took the opportunity to develop the design, after which TCWP have plans to return to the Primary pack and update it. Foster Gearing have recently helped TCWP in their rebranding by providing them with their new logo.

Past Times

Past Times has been a client of ours for a number of years and this morning we received a great recommendation from Mark Johnson, Head of Retail for the company.

“Philip has developed concept designs for Past Times and not only have the designs been impressive but the stores performances have been excellent. Philip has an impressive eye for detail as well as being creative at over coming potential problems. He has gone over and above the expected service level and projects that Foster Gearing have been involved in have all progressed effortlessly.

It has been a pleasure working with Philip and his team”
